Fourteen year-old Brandon is an intelligent and funny teenager from Raleigh. He loves playing and watching golf. When Brandon was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma, a brain tumor, in May 2008, Brandon became visually impaired and can now only see shadows. He is so determined, however, that he did not give up his favorite sport! Although Brandon can only use one side of his body and does not have his sight to guide him, he is still an incredible golfer!
When asked what he wanted his wish to be, Brandon decided that he wanted to go to Disney World with mom, aunt, uncle, and two cousins. Brandon knew that a trip to Disney World would be a great way to spend time with people he loves as well as engage his other senses by riding rides and experiencing new things!
Before Brandon left for Disney World, his wish granters, Sarah Beth Hunt and Eric Hungate, helped to put together a going away party for him and his family. The UNC Golf Team came to watch and play golf with Brandon! The golfers all tried to golf like Brandon, with their eyes closed and using only one arm, but Brandon hit the ball further than any of them! He also got a hole in one on the putting green! The golf team was really impressed with Brandon, and they even gave him some UNC Golf gear to wear while he plays!
Brandon and his family embarked on their week-long Disney World adventure on May 11, 2009. They stayed at the Give Kids the World Village and visited all the parks. Brandon had a great time at Disney World and all seven parks he visited in just 5 days! The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Eastern North Carolina was so happy to be able to make Brandon’s wish come true!
