Cooper loves Mickey Mouse and Goofy, so where else would be more perfect for this four-year old from Pikeville and his family to go? “Mickey’s Clubhouse,” eagerly stated Cooper, who is usually quiet and reserved until he warms up to you. Now, “where is Mickey’s Clubhouse?” the wish granters were wondering. Cooper’s mom explained that is what he called Disney World.
Cooper, his brother, sister, father, and mother were taken by limousine to the Raleigh airport and flew to Orlando. They stayed seven days at the unique, kids-centered village Give Kids the World. The trip was able to relieve the family of the stresses that are associated with Cooper’s brain tumor. Clothed in their “Super Cooper” superhero T-shirts, the family was able to spend all of their time at the different Disney World parks.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom®, Cooper saw crocodiles, bison, giraffes, a rhinoceros and a gorilla. Cooper met Disney character ranging from his favorites, Mickey and Goofy, to the Disney Princesses, animals like Rafiki, and even Buzz Lightyear and Woody, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Smee, and a Gingerbread man. Cooper and his brother and sister took the opportunity to take pictures with all of them!
Cooper visited Cinderella’s castle, played in Ariel’s Grotto, Toon Town and Tom Sawyer’s Fort and rode infamous rides like Splash Mountain. By the end of the trip, Cooper’s mom had dubbed her children her “Wild Ones,” because they spent most of the time with their faces painted like wild animals, super heroes, power rangers, and pirates! Exhausted out from the busy days, at his family’s villa Cooper was tucked at night in by a big fluffy bunny and slept peacefully through the nights getting ready for more excitement to come.
